Global talent agency Wasserman has rebranded as THE·TEAM after its founder and former CEO was named in the Epstein files.
According to Variety, the agency’s website has been rerouting visitors to a new URL since Monday 9th March. A statement on the site reads: “Wasserman has rebranded as THE·TEAM and you can now find us at the.team.
“For 24 years, this company has been shaped by our work, our people and our unifying belief in the power of Sports, Music and Entertainment. That philosophy remains the foundation of who we are - and where we are going. We go forward as we always have: Together.”
The rebrand follows the news that the agency’s former founder and CEO, Casey Wasserman, was named in a batch of the Epstein files, which includes email correspondence with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell from 2003. Wasserman said he “deeply regrets” the emails between him and Maxwell and claimed they were sent “long before her horrific crimes came to light”.
Included in the emails was one from Maxwell who offered to give Wasserman, who was married at the time, a massage that could “drive a man wild”. The emails featured in the US Justice Department’s latest file release on the child sex offender and human trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
In 2021, Maxwell was convicted on five counts of sex trafficking and abuse of minors. She is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. Epstein was arrested in 2019 for sex trafficking and was found dead in his cell a month later. Authorities later determined the cause of death was suicide by hanging.
Since Wasserman’s ties to Maxwell and Epstein surfaced, dozens of artists have left the global talent agency, including Chappell Roan, Laufey, Weyes Blood, Orville Peck, Wednesday, salute, and ODESZA.
Last month, Wasserman confirmed that Wasserman Agency president Mike Watts would take over control of the company. Wasserman is currently focused on his role in leading the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games organising committee.
Wasserman has put the agency up for sale.
